Qantas Double Status Credits: when is the next offer?

As at 17 October 2026, there is no member-wide Qantas Double Status Credits offer open. The most recent member-wide offer ran from 26 August to 2 September 2026.

A separate Double Status Credits offer for Qantas Business Rewards members is open for bookings until 11:59pm AEDT on 20 October 2026. It applies only to travel booked under a registered business ABN. The details are in the Business Rewards section below.

This page is updated when an offer opens and when it closes. The Updated date under the title is the date of the last check.

Qantas has run Double Status Credits promotions regularly since 2016. Members register, choose between double Status Credits and double Qantas Points, and make a new eligible booking during a short window, usually five to eight days. Travel is then permitted for most of the following year.

Based on the pattern of the last five years, February or March 2027 is the most likely period for the next member-wide offer. That is an estimate drawn from the history below, not an announced promotion.

• Current status: No member-wide offer open as at 17 October 2026. A Business Rewards offer is open until 20 October 2026.
• Next likely window: February or March 2027. A second member-wide offer around August or September 2027 would fit the 2025 and 2026 pattern. October has been the Business Rewards month in 2025 and 2026.
• Booking window: Historically five to eight days.
• Travel window: Around eleven months from the day after bookings close, for every member-wide offer from March 2022 to August 2026, except the May 2026 domestic and trans-Tasman offer, which allowed travel only to 31 August 2026.
• Eligible flights: New bookings on QF-numbered flights operated by Qantas, by the QantasLink operators named in the terms, or by Finnair for Qantas where specified. Jetstar and ordinary partner-operated codeshares have been excluded in every offer since 2022.
• Bonus crediting: Within eight weeks after travel under the 2025 and 2026 terms.
• Lifetime Status: Bonus Status Credits counted under the 2026 offers. They have not counted towards the Loyalty Bonus under any offer since October 2024. The August 2025 reversal is explained in the Lifetime Status section below.
• Good fare benchmark: Around $4 per Status Credit after doubling is a useful starting point for a strong status run.

When is the next Qantas Double Status Credits offer?

Qantas does not publish a forward calendar for Double Status Credits promotions. The best indication of timing is the record.

The pattern since 2024

Three patterns stand out.

February–March has been the most consistent period. Qantas has opened a member-wide Double Status Credits offer in February or March in every year from 2022 to 2026.

A second member-wide offer later in the year has become normal. It came in late October in 2024 and in late August in both 2025 and 2026.

October has moved to businesses. The late-October member-wide offer of 2024 was followed by business-only offers in late October 2025 and mid-October 2026, each limited to Qantas Business Rewards members.

On that evidence, February or March 2027 is the period to watch for the next member-wide offer. A second member-wide offer around August or September 2027 is plausible, and so is another October business offer. None of the three is guaranteed, and the May 2026 offer shows that scope can narrow without warning.

Should you wait before booking?

If you have flexible Qantas travel planned and are working towards status, waiting for a potential promotion may be worthwhile.

However, a future Double Status Credits offer is not guaranteed.

There is also a trade-off. A good sale fare available today may disappear before the next promotion opens.

The better approach is to compare the value of the current fare with the potential additional Status Credits, rather than delaying every booking in anticipation of an offer.

How to prepare before the next offer

There is no need to construct a status run before the next promotion is announced. The useful preparation is short.

Know your position. Check your Status Credit balance, your membership-year end date and the requirement for your next tier. Bonus Status Credits post after travel, not at booking, so the flights need to be flown, and credited, before the membership year in which you need them ends.

Identify travel you already expect to take. Note which flights are flexible enough to hold for a future promotion and which should be booked regardless. Under the 2025 and 2026 terms, bookings made before the window opened did not qualify, and sectors added to an existing booking did not qualify either.

Understand the normal fares. Use the live deals board and your route's recent pricing as a reference, so that a fare offered during the promotion can be judged properly. A promotion halves the cost per Status Credit; it does not make an expensive fare cheap.

Test your shortfall. Use the Status Run Builder with the Double Status Credits toggle on to see which eligible itineraries would reach your target.

If you run a business, join Qantas Business Rewards before October. The 2025 and 2026 October offers were open only to Qantas Business Rewards members. A one-off joining fee, $89.50 as at October 2025, applies unless Qantas is waiving it at the time.

When the offer opens: register, choose your reward, book within the window, and check the operated by line on every sector before paying.

Our starting screen remains around $4 per Status Credit after doubling, but the best option depends on your circumstances. A higher-cost flight can still be worthwhile. A lower-cost status run can still be unnecessary.

The 2026 offers

Qantas ran three member-wide Double Status Credits offers in 2026 and one Business Rewards offer. If you booked under one of them, these are the dates that matter.

Booking windows opened at 12:01am on the first day and closed at 11:59pm on the last day in the time zone shown.

Each member-wide offer let members choose double Status Credits or double Qantas Points. Under all three, bonus Status Credits were credited within eight weeks after travel, counted towards status and Lifetime Status, and did not count towards the Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward or Status Accelerator and Challenge requirements.

Network means Qantas-marketed flights operated by Qantas and the operators named in the terms, on domestic and international tickets. Booking windows are drawn from FreePoints' Qantas promotion history. Travel windows and notes for the 2022 to 2026 offers were checked against the offer terms as reported at the time; the sources are listed in the methodology section. Blank travel windows have not been reverified.

Qantas Business Rewards is Qantas' program for Australian businesses with an ABN. Under both October offers, the business registered its ABN, each traveller's Qantas Frequent Flyer number and the ABN had to be on the booking, and the bonus Status Credits went to the traveller's own account. There was no double points option.

The eligible flights matched the member-wide offers: QF-numbered flights operated by Qantas or by the named QantasLink operators, with Jetstar and partner-operated codeshares excluded. The terms also excluded businesses with a principal place of business outside Australia, travel agents and other resellers, businesses with a corporate fare agreement through Qantas Business Rewards, and some incorporated entities. Check the terms before relying on the offer.

The October 2026 terms are silent on Lifetime Status. If that matters to you, confirm the treatment with Qantas before booking.

What qualifies for Double Status Credits?

The precise rules vary between promotions, but every offer from 2024 to 2026 shared the same test:

The May 2026 offer was limited to domestic and direct trans-Tasman tickets. Its terms also expressly included Network Aviation among the eligible operators.

The August 2026 offer included specified Finnair-operated QF services.

Do not assume the next promotion will use exactly the same rules. Check the current offer terms before booking.

The operating carrier matters

A QF flight number alone has not been sufficient.

The aircraft must also be operated by Qantas or an operator specifically included in the promotion.

This distinction matters for codeshares.

For example, an Emirates-operated flight can carry a QF flight number and earn Qantas Status Credits under the normal earning rules. That does not make it eligible for Double Status Credits.

In our Sydney–Istanbul pricing work on 6 August 2026, we observed different normal Status Credit earn rates for Emirates-operated itineraries sold under different flight-number combinations.

The important point is that a codeshare may improve ordinary Status Credit earning without qualifying for the promotional bonus.

Before booking, check the operated by information on every sector.

Also confirm the relevant fare class using the Qantas Airline Earning Tables.

Register first, then book

The 2026 offers required members to register and make a new eligible booking during the promotion.

Registration did not necessarily have to occur before booking, but registering first was the safest approach.

Under the August 2026 terms:

• members registered through the Qantas app or campaign page;
• each traveller registered individually;
• members selected either double Status Credits or double Qantas Points; and
• the selection could be changed until the booking window closed.

The final selection applied to all eligible bookings made during the offer period, including bookings made before the selection was changed.

Passengers on the same booking could choose different rewards, provided each registered individually and had their Qantas Frequent Flyer number recorded.

These arrangements may change in future promotions. The Business Rewards offers worked differently: the business registered, and travellers did not.

When are Double Status Credits applied?

Under the 2025 and 2026 terms, bonus Status Credits were credited within eight weeks after travel.

The normal Status Credits from the flight posted separately.

This means a booking made during a promotion does not earn its bonus when the ticket is purchased. The Status Credits relate to the flight taken.

For example, a booking made in August 2026 for travel in June 2027 would not earn the associated Status Credits until after the June flight.

What if your membership year ends before the bonus posts?

This is worth checking carefully.

Where an eligible flight is taken near the end of a membership year, the bonus may not appear in the account until after that year has ended.

Do not assume that the date the bonus appears determines the membership year to which Qantas allocates it.

If the timing affects whether you attain or retain a tier, confirm the applicable treatment with Qantas before relying on the bonus.

Do bonus Status Credits count towards Lifetime Status and the Loyalty Bonus?

Lifetime Status: yes under the 2026 offers, after a one-day exception in August 2025.

Bonus Status Credits from Double Status Credits offers have historically counted towards Lifetime Silver, Gold and Platinum.

When the August 2025 offer opened on 28 August 2025, its terms excluded the bonus credits from Lifetime Status, a departure from earlier offers. On 29 August 2025, Qantas reversed the change and stated that bonus Status Credits earned through the offer would count towards Lifetime Status.

The February, May and August 2026 terms each confirmed that bonus Status Credits count towards Lifetime Status. The October 2026 Business Rewards terms do not mention it.

Loyalty Bonus: no. Under every offer from October 2024 to October 2026, bonus Status Credits did not count towards the Loyalty Bonus or Status Accelerator and Challenge requirements. The 2025 and 2026 terms also excluded the Platinum Bonus Reward and the Platinum One Bonus Reward.

Annual status: yes. The bonus counts towards attaining or retaining Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One in the membership year to which Qantas allocates it.

The August 2025 episode is the reason this guide checks each offer's terms rather than carrying the previous offer's rules forward.

What about Classic Reward flights?

Most Classic Flight Rewards do not ordinarily earn Status Credits.

Points Club and Points Club Plus members have been an important exception.

Eligible Classic Rewards could earn Status Credits under the Points Club benefit, and qualifying bookings under the 2026 promotions could earn Double Status Credits.

This created an alternative to buying cash fares solely for status.

However, the Points Club program is scheduled to retire on 8 December 2026.

Qantas has stated that members holding Points Club benefits at that date can retain those benefits until the end of their next membership year.

The practical implication is that some members may continue earning Status Credits on eligible Classic Rewards after the program closes to new qualification.

Whether those flights qualify for a future Double Status Credits promotion will depend on its specific terms.

Double Status Credits or double Qantas Points?

For members actively working towards status, Double Status Credits will usually be the more valuable choice.

They can materially reduce the amount of flying required to attain or retain a tier.

Double Qantas Points may be more useful where:

• you have no meaningful status objective;
• you already hold the tier you expect to use;
• you are making a substantial eligible booking anyway; or
• additional Status Credits would have little practical value.

The points option has generally doubled the applicable base earn or Minimum Points Guarantee, rather than any additional Status Bonus earned through existing status.

Neither option makes an otherwise unsuitable fare worthwhile. The underlying trip and price still matter.

What is a good fare during Double Status Credits?

For an ordinary status run, we use around $5 per Status Credit as a useful initial screen.

During a Double Status Credits promotion, our benchmark for a strong fare is around:

$4 per Status Credit after doubling

This is a screening level rather than a rule.

A fare above $4 can still make sense if it completes a small status shortfall or relates to travel you were taking anyway.

A fare below $4 is not automatically worthwhile if the journey is inconvenient or the tier offers little value to you.

What the August 2026 offer showed

Our fare observations during the August 2026 promotion illustrate why the underlying price matters.

On 27 August 2026, the advertised Qantas deals board included several trans-Tasman Business fares.

These were materially better Status Credit economics than the same fares without the promotion.

However, none reached our $4 strong-fare benchmark.

The more attractive opportunities were found outside the advertised sale board.

The Melbourne–Cairns and Newcastle–Adelaide examples were verified through Qantas booking searches, with the relevant operating carriers and earning rates checked against the offer terms.

These are historical observations, not currently available promotional fares.

They illustrate an important distinction:

The strongest status runs are not necessarily the cheapest advertised sale fares.

Connecting itineraries can earn more Status Credits than direct flights, sometimes for a relatively modest additional cost.

The Status Run Builder is designed to identify those combinations.

How to calculate the cost properly

For a dedicated status run:

Cost per Status Credit = total trip cost ÷ eligible doubled Status Credits

The total cost should include the additional expenses you actually expect to incur, such as positioning flights, accommodation and transfers.

For travel you were already planning, the more relevant calculation may be the incremental cost of earning additional Status Credits.

For example, suppose adding a connection:

• increases the fare by $160; and
• earns another 80 Status Credits after doubling.

The incremental cost is:

$160 ÷ 80 = $2 per additional Status Credit

That may be more attractive than purchasing a separate flight solely for status.

The Status Run Builder can compare complete itineraries against your target balance and apply the Double Status Credits adjustment to eligible sectors.

The toggle assumes the booking, travel dates and fare satisfy the promotion terms. Those details still need to be confirmed before booking.

Should you cancel and rebook an existing flight?

Generally, do not cancel an existing booking solely because a Double Status Credits promotion has opened without first comparing the costs.

Bookings made before the offer period have not qualified under the 2025 and 2026 offers, and adding sectors to an existing booking has also been excluded.

A replacement booking may qualify, but only if it satisfies the current promotion terms.

Before cancelling, compare the original and replacement fares, any change or cancellation costs, and the additional Status Credits.

A higher replacement fare can easily absorb the value of the bonus.

Under the 2025 and 2026 terms, Flight Credits issued before the offer could be used towards a new eligible booking made during the promotional window, subject to the relevant conditions.

That is different from simply modifying an existing reservation.

When is Double Status Credits worthwhile?

The promotion is particularly useful when you:

• already expect to take substantial eligible Qantas travel;
• are relatively close to attaining or retaining a tier;
• can book planned travel during the promotional window;
• find a fare with competitive Status Credit economics; or
• can increase the Status Credits from an existing trip for relatively little additional cost.

The bonus can also contribute towards Lifetime Status.

When it may not be worthwhile

Double Status Credits is less useful where most planned flying is on ineligible airlines, the next tier would require substantial additional travel, or the benefits of that tier are unlikely to justify the cost.

A promotion can halve the cost per Status Credit without changing whether the underlying status objective makes sense.

That does not mean status must produce a measurable financial return.

Lounge access, priority services and greater flexibility can have practical value. For some travellers, the flying and the status itself also have personal value.

The relevant question is whether the cost and travel required are reasonable for what you expect to receive.

Offer status and history

The current offer status and historical promotion information were reviewed on 17 October 2026.

The most recent member-wide Qantas Double Status Credits promotion ran from 26 August to 2 September 2026. The Qantas Business Rewards promotion open at the time of review runs from 14 to 20 October 2026.

Historical booking windows are drawn from FreePoints' Qantas promotion history.

The member-wide table covers network, domestic, international and trans-Tasman Double Status Credits offers open to Qantas Frequent Flyer members generally. It excludes route-specific and Points Club-only promotions. Business Rewards offers are tabled separately.

The record is based on documented historical offers rather than a guaranteed future promotion calendar.

How this page is kept current

The status line, the At a glance summary, the offer tables and the Updated date are revised when a Double Status Credits offer opens and again when it closes. Between windows, the page is reviewed when Qantas changes a relevant program rule.

2026 offers

The February booking window ran from 24 February to 11:59pm AEDT on 2 March 2026, for eligible travel between 3 March 2026 and 12 February 2027. The offer covered eligible Qantas-marketed and operated flights, including QantasLink and Finnair wet-lease services, and excluded Jetstar and partner-operated codeshares. The terms stated that bonus Status Credits count towards Lifetime Status. See Australian Frequent Flyer's February 2026 report.

The May offer ran from 12:01am AEST on 5 May to 11:59pm AEST on 11 May 2026, for travel between 12 May and 31 August 2026. It was limited to eligible Australian domestic and direct trans-Tasman flights. The terms included specified QantasLink operators, named Network Aviation in the FAQ, and excluded Jetstar and ordinary partner-operated codeshares. The terms stated that bonus Status Credits count towards Lifetime Status and are credited within eight weeks after travel. The August booking period ran from 12:01am AEST on 26 August to 11:59pm AEST on 2 September 2026, for eligible travel between 3 September 2026 and 14 August 2027. Eligible flights included qualifying Qantas-marketed and operated services, the QantasLink operators and the specified Finnair-operated QF services identified in the terms. Jetstar, Jetstar Japan and ordinary partner-operated codeshares were excluded. The offer required new bookings; new sectors added to existing bookings did not qualify. The March offer ran from 12:01am AEDT on 12 March to 11:59pm AEDT on 18 March 2025, for travel between 19 March 2025 and 24 February 2026. The terms named Alliance Airlines, National Jet, Airlink, Eastern Australia Airlines and Sunstate Airlines, and Finnair-operated QF291, QF292, QF295 and QF296. Bonus treatment

Under the 2025 and 2026 terms, bonus Status Credits were credited within eight weeks after travel.

They counted towards annual status qualification. They counted towards Lifetime Status under the 2026 terms and, after the 29 August 2025 reversal, under the August 2025 terms.

They did not count towards the Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward or specified Status Accelerator and Challenge requirements.

Points Club

The eligibility of Points Club and Points Club Plus members for Status Credits on Classic Rewards was checked against Qantas' Classic Flight Rewards information.

Qantas has stated that Points Club will retire on 8 December 2026, with existing benefits continuing for qualifying members under the published transition arrangements.

Future Double Status Credits eligibility for Classic Rewards will depend on the terms of any new promotion.

Fare evidence

The trans-Tasman fare examples were captured from Qantas' advertised offers on 27 August 2026.

The Melbourne–Cairns and Newcastle–Adelaide Business examples were drawn from our Qantas booking research, with fare evidence and Status Credit calculations retained in the Status Run Builder dataset.

The Melbourne–Cairns example was checked on 27 August 2026, while the Newcastle–Adelaide fare was checked on 30 July 2026.

The Sydney–Istanbul codeshare comparison was captured on 6 August 2026.

All fare examples are dated observations rather than current quotes. Status Credit calculations are based on the earning assumptions recorded at the time.

Limitations

The next member-wide Double Status Credits offer has not been announced.

Its timing, travel window, eligible operators, fare conditions and treatment of reward flights may differ from previous promotions.

The $4-per-Status-Credit benchmark is an editorial screening level rather than a guarantee that a fare represents good value.
